Aside from a minor slip-up (I ate a few Oreos on Friday night) avoiding gluten has been quite easy.
Every once in a while I really want to eat a pb&j and then realize I have no bread, but that is mostly because I haven't had the time to make any. I found a recipe somewhere on these nets but I can't seem to find it again on this lovely blog called Gluten-Free Goddess. I cannot wait to try it! Hopefully I can get around to some of her other recipes too.
Eunice made these chocolate chip cookies for Outstitute on Friday substituting Bob's Red Mill Gluten-Free Baking Mix for all purpose flour and they were EXCELLENT. I ate so many. Too many (just enough?)
These cookies are part of the reason (homework being the other part) why I have not made any cookies for a few days. Sit tight though, they're coming.
I didn't make these cookies either, but they are yummy.
They're Liz Lovely's and you can get them HERE or at your local Whole Foods/health food/hippie store. If you can't get them near you that's a major bummer, because they are pretty tasty (of course at 200 calories per serving, half a cookie, they better be). Because it's Vegan Mofo, and I'm feeling generous (and crazy) I want to share some of Liz's loveliness with you. Tell me about the worst cookie you've ever eaten in the comments I will choose a winner at random. (Alternatively, if you live locally I will make you cookies if you'd prefer)

When did you decide to go gluten free?
It is an experiment for the month of November
Betty, I read all of your november food posts yesterday, and even tried to think very hard about a bad cookie I have had, but none came to mind. most cookies I eat are good cookies. I suppose the worst was last week. from a box of "european cookies." It was coffee flavored, when I thought it was something else.

Dan's favorite combination..mint and chocolate! What a good question, the worst cookie ever eaten. This is difficult because I love most cookies. Dan's answer is any cookie that is dry and crumbly. Mine is the first GF cookies I ever made, peanut butter, they were really chalky and tasted like beans.
the WORST cookie i ever ate was my own! for some reason, i got the salt measurements all wrong and i ended up baking salt chocolate cookies pretty much. disgusting! :(
Sadly, the worst cookies I ever ate were a "vegan" experiment by our former neighbors. Basically they tasted like mashed chickpeas with carob chips. Our neighbors loved them. Amelia and I politely suppressed our gag reflexes, but it wasn't easy. Thankfully, I've had tons of delicious vegan cookies since.
